Superintendents new to Iowa and new to the role are invited to join us for a complimentary one-day conference focused entirely on key concepts in Iowa’s funding of school districts! Attendees will hear information on Dillon’s Rule vs. Home Rule, review basic school finance formula principles, and learn about Iowa’s school finance formula. Iowa’s spending authority provision is different than our neighboring states, so we’ll spend considerable time digging into this key concept as well as reviewing school property taxes and the different funds school districts are authorized to use.

Don’t worry, IASB school finance experts are on hand all day to answer both general and district-specific questions, review key financial information like unspent authorized budget, solvency ratio, enrollment trends, and current/trending legislative issues.

SPECIAL CONFERENCE PREVIEW! In our latest episode of IASB's BoardCast podcast, hear from IASB's school finance experts, and featured ISFLC presenters, on everything new superintendents can expect to learn at the New Superintendents' Conference in September!

Attendees will leave with:

  • Custom Financial Focus Booklets—detailed information about your district’s financial health.
  • School Finance Glossary of Terms—a handy glossary to help you understand financial terms.
  • Lasting Connections with Peers—as the Class of 2022, you’ll forge connections with your peers that will last throughout your tenure.

We are pleased to offer this complimentary conference as the kick-off event for the annual Iowa Superintendents’ Finance and Leadership Consortium (ISFLC), a robust offering of multiple conferences with intensive tracks, renewal credit, and networking opportunities, in partnership with the UNI Institute for Educational Leadership program.
