The Iowa Association of School Boards® is governed by a 17-member Board of Directors, which includes officers and regional directors from nine Director Districts and representatives from Iowa's Area Education Agencies and Community Colleges. Directors
serve three-year terms. The IASB President-elect is elected by the Delegate Assembly for a two-year term.
This year, elections will be held for representatives to serve on the IASB Board of Directors in Director Districts #1, #4, #5, #6 (which has two open seats), and #9. Individuals interested in being considered for nomination must be members of a board that is a member of IASB and complete the Statement of Candidacy by Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
The nominating caucus is scheduled during the morning break of the IASB Delegate Assembly on November 19, 2025. The purpose of the caucus is to nominate not more than two board members as candidates for each open position. All delegates attending from Director Districts #1, #4, #5, #6, and #9 can participate in the process. Voting for nominated candidates will take place from November 24 to December 24, 2025 through an online voting system. For questions, contact Stephanie Rousseau at srousseau@ia-sb.org or +1 (515) 247-7042. Elected terms will commence in January 2026 at the first meeting of the IASB Board of Directors.
Director District #6*: There are two open seats in DD #6. One is to complete the remaining year of the term ending January 2027. The other is for a full three-year term ending January 2029.
*Please indicate which term you're applying for on your Statement of Candidacy: term ending January 2027 or January 2029.
