John Hodge is a nationally recognized speaker in education, known for turning research into practical strategies that drive student success. His career spans roles as a teacher, administrator, and consultant, informed by his groundbreaking research at Virginia Tech on student resilience and the factors influencing academic outcomes for children from struggling families.

Hodge played a key role in expanding Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) across 13 states and led An Achievable Dream Academy, gaining deep experience supporting students in underserved communities. He later co-founded the Urban Learning and Leadership Center and now serves as Chief Inspirational Officer of AADULLC, where he partners with school districts nationwide to improve achievement. 

Hodge’s top selling book, You Can Get in the Way: How You Can Be a Roadblock to Risk Factors, is a widely used guide for educators focused on removing barriers to student success. His work has impacted thousands of educators and millions of students across diverse school settings.
