We know these are uncertain times, but we hope the Call for Presentations for the 75th IASB Annual Convention brings a smile to your face as you think back to all the innovation and positive outcomes your school board achieved over the past year. We invite you to submit a high-quality presentation proposal that will help your fellow board members succeed.

To assist in planning your presentation, use this handy Word document to work through logistics prior to submitting your presentation proposal. All proposals must be submitted through the online submission form.

Deadline extended to June 28! We have officially extended the deadline to submit presentation proposals for the #IASB75 Annual Convention to Friday, June 28. While we have received quality proposals from many of you, we know you have a lot on your plates right now and want to offer you more time to commit to this opportunity. Thank you for considering this contribution of your knowledge, expertise and stories to help fellow education leaders everywhere succeed and lead effectively.
 

Presentation Selection Criteria

We are seeking and will select presentations that meet all of the following criteria:
  • Target board members as the primary audience.
  • Enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities of board members.
  • Include a school or AEA board member as a presenter.
  • Share promising strategies and practices that can be replicated by other districts/AEAs of all sizes.
  • Designed to engage the audience in meaningful ways.
  • Demonstrate innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Provide solid, practical, how-to information and tips that board members can take back and apply at the board table.
 
Vendor Presentations Criteria
Presentations that include representatives from companies or organizations associated with a commercial enterprise must align to the following selection criteria, in addition to criteria listed above: 
  • Presentation proposals must include school leaders on the panel.
  • School leaders must be the primary presenters in the presentation.
  • The focus of the session must be on a learning topic.
  • Presenters must agree to have their company or organization participate as a paid Trade Show exhibitor upon selection of their proposal.

Presentation proposals that do not meet these criteria will NOT be considered.

Types of Learning Opportunities

Consider which of the following presentation styles you will be incorporating into your session.

Traditional Presentation
Focuses on a single topic or program, typically including a talk or media presentation followed by Q&A.

Panel Discussion
Discussion focuses on a specific topic among a selected group of panelists who share differing perspectives.

Interactive Presentation
Provide an extended opportunity for participant engagement (discuss scenarios; conduct/report polls; use guiding questions; other exercises.)

Deeper Dialogue
Presenters briefly introduce the idea or issue they wish to explore, and then open the discussion for input and exchange of ideas among participants.
 

Key Dates

  • The deadline to submit presentations proposal is Friday, June 28, 2020.
  • Mid-summer: Acceptance or denial email sent.
  • Late summer: Contact made by assigned IASB staff member to help shape messaging.
  • Nov. 12: Handouts and PPTs due for online posting.
  • Nov. 19: Convention.

Additional information

  • IASB reserves the right to revise session titles and descriptions.
  • IASB does not cover travel expenses; presenter fees will not be waived.
