The Learning Hub

IASB offers a diverse selection of learning experiences throughout the year to support board/superintendent teams in governance and leadership. As education leaders, you face many complex challenges, which require you to possess a vast range of knowledge and experience—school law, finance, labor relations, policy and budgets, curriculum, not to mention bond campaigns, lobbying, special education and parliamentary procedure—to name a few.

Through convention, conferences, workshops, webinars, podcasts and online courses, offered either statewide or regionally, in-district, in-person or digitally, IASB serves member needs for learning and professional development. We are here to help both new and experienced board members build your knowledge, and sharpen your boardsmanship and leadership skills.

As an additional resource for IASB members, the Learning Hub includes learning opportunities and events held by the National School Boards Association (NSBA). For more information, visit NSBA's website.

Board President Webinar Series: Building the Budget—What is My Role?
Jan. 28, 5:30 p.m. (Larger Districts) & 7 p.m. (Smaller Districts)
NEW! Building a budget is a complex process, and as the board president, you may have asked yourself some of the following questions: Have we had a robust discussion of our district’s educational and operational priorities, and are we putting resources where they are needed? Do we have a budget timeline and if so, are we following it?  How do we best consider budget reductions?  What is my role in shepherding this process? We’ll discuss these and other budget development questions with fellow board president peers and IASB staff. You won't want to miss this meeting where you'll gain key insights and new tools to use at the board table. The 5:30 p.m. webinar is designed for board presidents from larger districts, while the 7 p.m. webinar is designed for board presidents from smaller districts; however, board leaders from districts of any size are welcome to attend either webinar. These 75-minute webinars are free to members and recording(s) will be posted to the Recordings & Resources page.
